Why Body-First Meditation Is the Latest Wellness Trend

Rapid rise predicts the global meditation market exceeding 20 million USD in health trend growth over the next 5 years.

In our modern world, we are encircled by technology. Whether it’s videos, texting, calling, or scrolling on social media, these perpetual distractions consistently disconnect us from our physical presence.

Disconnection leads to anxiety, stress, and problems like low self-worth, relationship breakdowns, poor work productivity, and increased suicides.

Enter stage left: body-first meditation.

Body-first meditation keeps you connected to yourself by helping you sit still and feel the sensations in your body.

By feeling what’s going on inside and allowing those feelings to be there without judgment, you release any accumulated stress, tensions or pains and come to accept yourself as you are.

As you sit physically still, you’re allowing your body to just feel and heal without the interference of thought. This doesn’t mean thoughts won’t be there, but they’ll just be a faint background noise, insignificant.

As body-first meditation trends globally, people adopt it for daily stress management, anxiety management, and enhanced self-connection.

You can incorporate it into your morning routine for grounding and self-connection before your day begins. This helps resolve the previous day’s tensions, pains, and past issues, promoting a fresh start and relaxation.

Include it in your evening routine to address daily concerns and heal past pains, traumas, and issues that emerge.

Or use it to pause for 5-minute meditations to ease stress, anxiety, or tech-induced preoccupations, regaining composure amid the daily hustle.

By incorporating body-first meditation into daily routines, individuals experience enhanced focus, clarity, work performance, and well-being. Additionally, it fosters self-awareness, reduces anxiety, and improves stress management.

As you can see, the reason body-first meditation is trending speaks for itself.

There is no downside to meditation.

If done correctly, meditation can only bring you benefits and enhance your life.

So what do you think?

Want to jump on the body-first meditation trend?

Here are some quick and easy steps to get you started!

  • Begin with 10 minutes. Comfortably sit on a chair, bed, or cushion. You’ll naturally desire longer sessions as you progress. You can stand and lie down as well, but sitting is usually more comfortable and easier.
  • Close your eyes.
  • Let your thinking fade into the background, don’t pay attention to it or follow the stories. If you get caught in it, that’s fine, just come back to the physical sense of yourself in the body.
  • Feel however you are feeling in that moment, you may have a sore bottom or foot. That’s fine, just feel them.
  • Continue to do this for 10, 20, or 60 minutes or as long as you feel like.
  • If you find yourself getting distracted by too many thoughts or you keep checking your phone, try a guided meditation.

The app ‘Undo’ is also a very good place to start. For novices and experts alike, it includes guided meditations, chapters on topics to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and body-specific meditations to address ailments and pains.

You can also participate in monthly online meditation days led by Undo’s author. Find details for these sessions here.
